Jim has been part of Boardman's Banking Law group since 1981. Primarily, he handles civil litigation involving banks. He has represented banks and bank holding companies in many different types of disputes including:
Jim practices in state and federal courts, the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Court of Appeals and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Jim has also represented the banking industry before courts through briefs as amicus curiae, primarily for the Wisconsin Bankers' Association.
Jim's practice includes other types of disputes, in the area of construction law, including representing sureties, principals and owners on bonded projects. Recently Jim represented a medium sized Wisconsin municipality in a complex power plant matter.
Jim has been listed in Best Lawyers in America in 2007 and 2008, and a "Superlawyer" in 2008.
